High-tech sandwich panels for individual solutions
As an innovative manufacturer of technically high-quality elements, the core competence of design composite lies mainly in the bonding of different high-tech materials to new sandwich elements. The standard range includes high-strength light-weight panels with various cores and facing sheets as well as translucent architectural thermoplastic panels. The entire product range is characterized by a high degree of flexibility and individualization options.
The standard range of the Austrian company with an international distribution network is tailored to the needs of commercial vehicle technology, industrial applications as well as architecture and design. Individual solutions for special requirements characterize the company with many years of experience in bonding technology. According to the motto "design your composite", our own development department takes care of the comprehensive consulting, planning and, if necessary the new development of tailor-made production and product solutions in the area of sandwich panels.
The innovation lead from design composite lies in the unique and flexible manufacturing process, which makes it possible to offer extremely light panels.
Panels made of translucent honeycomb cores with UV-stable polycarbonate or acrylic facing sheets are primarily used as decorative elements in interior and exterior areas.
Highly durable elements with high stiffness using foam, polypropylene or aluminium honeycomb cores and glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) or aluminium facings for a wide range of applications.
The entire range is characterized by a high degree of flexibility. Light-weight elements up to a size of 15 x 2.9 meters can be developed and produced for individual requirements.
Numerous possibilities in the individual design of the architectural panels regarding colour, surface, core, shape and special effects. Printed panels are also possible as well as shaping or special edge banding.

ROSIE - The world's tallest 3D-printed polymer structure

Design Composite's backlit clear-PEP® panel is part of ROSIE, a simulated lunar habitat at the Institute on Rosenberg.
Translucency, light-diffusing effects, light weight and
very good stiffness convinced SAGA space architects to use it in the interior.
Illuminated or backlit, clear-PEP® creates attractive light effects due to the transparent honeycomb structure in its core.
clear-PEP® is easy to process and is available in a wide range of variations.
The ROSIE habitat is currently the tallest 3D printed polymer structure in the world. It is used to explore lunar habitats including airlocks, climate control, user interfaces and robotic support. ROSIE will be explored over the next 10 years by small crews of students and astronauts to gain further insight for lunar colonization.
